Coming down out of the freezing sky with its depths of light, like an angel, or a Buddha with wings, it was beautiful, and accurate, striking the snow and whatever was there with a force that left the imprint of the tips of its wings — five feet apart — and the grabbing thrust of its feet, and the indentation of what had been running through the white valleys of the snow — and then it rose, gracefully, and flew back to the frozen marshes to lurk there, like a little lighthouse, in the blue shadows — so I thought: maybe death isn’t darkness, after all, but so much light wrapping itself around us — as soft as feathers — that we are instantly weary of looking, and looking, and shut our eyes, not without amazement, and let ourselves be carried, as through the translucence of mica, to the river that is without the least dapple or shadow, that is nothing but light — scalding, aortal light — in which we are washed and washed out of our bones. Todays little joy is to celebrate a friends new house. I just loved these stamps from Polka Doodles. I coloured the images with promarkers. I added flowersoft to give a little texture on the trees and garden paths. It was a fun card to make using different papers from the Polka Doodles "Sundae of Seasons" This is such a great cdrom and I find myself going back to it time and time again for all the different papers. I use cdroms alot...sometimes for the images and sometimes when I'm looking for a different paper. I know alot of crafters that just use their cdroms for the image and matching backing papers and that's it. I love to look at the images and see it as a design feature for the card and what I really enjoy is doing the decoration..sometimes using embellishments from my stash or more than likely making my own. I love my collection of cdroms and as a crafter they are my largest resource. I can't seem to get on very well with card kits because i always feel as if too much as been done for me. Having so much done seems to stifle something in my brain. I think it's down to the fact that I like fiddling about and starting with a blank piece of paper,,some stamps and whatever colouring medium I fancy is the way to go for me. I always buy stamps that I feel I can use in lots of different ways, one of them as an addition to an image from a cdrom. I'm off now to make a start on an atc...so out will come the inks and the jewels. I will share when it's finished. Lets get crafting.
This is a piece of mixed media art that I keep playing around with. It's an original painting on canvas. I painted her with H2os and I loved the shimmering effect that it gave to her skin. The wings are painted, with fantasy foil over the top and then I painted more H2os over the top. To be fair the picture does not show the true effect but I so wanted to share this piece. The butterflies are stamped images again coloured with H2os. Can anyone spot a theme here? The butterflies that form her crown are punched usung a martha stewart punch and then coloured.

I thought that I would share this card just because I so enjoyed making it. It was an order for an anniversary card. The background card shape was made using the glitter girls tall stories board. The stargazer lilies, I made by hand, starting with a plain piece of paper. I cut the petal and leaf shapes and then painted them using H2os. I let them dry thoroughly...which is so hard to do with a house full of cats!! When they were dry I made a coil on a bamboo skewer and attached the petals and shaped them. The hole left by the skewer I filled with pinflair and added the stamens. The stamens were made using the flowersoft wire and mixed colours of flowersoft. I also made a tall stand to display the card. The reason I loved making this card was the amount of fine work and fiddling it involved. I think that I'm just a little sad....the more detail I can create..the better I feel.
It's often the case that you have a bright idea and life takes over. I intended to start this blog into my crafting journey at the New year and it never happened. Well now I have had a long chat with myself and intend to blog my creations and share them.
The card above is made using the Joanna Sheen/ Jane Netley Mayhew cdrom. I loved this image and wanted to make more of the image. I stamped the background card and coloured with H2os. I tried to copy the flowers on the image itself and made grasses using card I had painted myself. The rocks were first painted and then had flowersoft added to give the look of moss. The kingfisher image I decoupaged to give shape.
