Coming down out of the freezing sky with its depths of light, like an angel, or a Buddha with wings, it was beautiful, and accurate, striking the snow and whatever was there with a force that left the imprint of the tips of its wings — five feet apart — and the grabbing thrust of its feet, and the indentation of what had been running through the white valleys of the snow — and then it rose, gracefully, and flew back to the frozen marshes to lurk there, like a little lighthouse, in the blue shadows — so I thought: maybe death isn’t darkness, after all, but so much light wrapping itself around us — as soft as feathers — that we are instantly weary of looking, and looking, and shut our eyes, not without amazement, and let ourselves be carried, as through the translucence of mica, to the river that is without the least dapple or shadow, that is nothing but light — scalding, aortal light — in which we are washed and washed out of our bones. Decoupage Delights......Vintage Christmas

Todays card is a design team make for the wonderful company of Decoupage Delights. This card is made using their fabulous cdrom called Vintage Christmas. A great source of vintage Christmas cards. As you know I adore all things vintage, so this cdrom is a favourite of mine. I remember as a child that a lot of Christmas cards featured bells and this card reminds me of them. At that time in my childhood bells seemed to form the basis of alot more bells..in cards and decorations, than they do now. I suppose it's a reference to church bells ringing out. When I was younger a lot more people attended church and I'm always asked now to produce cards with churches on for people to give, because to them memories of church always mean Christmas to them. No matter how many cards are made..in new styles..Christmas to some people will always mean church, with the bells ringing out. Especially with things how they are now in the world, many people need to hang onto their memories of times past. And if I can make that a little easier for them..I will.

As I'm writing this, a little kitten called Nosey has just arrived on the keyboard..lol. He has just climbed his way up to me and rolled on his back to have his tummy tickled. The other three are running round and round the parlour and it looks as if a tornado has blown through. They were all ready for their breakfast and I feel as if I've walked a couple of miles rounding the little ones up. Fiesty the little girl took off this morning like a greyhound..heading to the bathroom. As you're trying to catch one of them, the others are heading in a different direction..lol.All I can say is that I'm worn out and it's only 3 o'clock..lol. But I know it's now coming to the time when they will all be going back to their Mum for a lie down. All of a sudden quiet will reign and you can look up and they've all returned to the pen and gone to sleep. It's a lovely hour..lol

Well the coffee is calling and I'm back to a list of work to do. The paints will be coming out this afternoon..goodness help me from little paws. I do hope that Pretty will be able to visit soon and help reign in the chaos..lol he is so used to rounding up furry little bodies at speed. The wind is raging round the valley..but at least it's not raining at the moment. It has been quite scary in the middle of the night..even the cats have been disturbed by all the noise. But as always I have to be grateful for the sturdy little cottage..grateful in the knowledge that it has withstood such storms for many many years. I'm off to hit the caffeine, so until tomorrow...take care and happy crafting

  1. Gorgeous card today & I love yesterday's. Hope you're warm & safe in this horrendous weather, it's pretty awful here. Fingers crossed it soon passes.
