Coming down out of the freezing sky with its depths of light, like an angel, or a Buddha with wings, it was beautiful, and accurate, striking the snow and whatever was there with a force that left the imprint of the tips of its wings — five feet apart — and the grabbing thrust of its feet, and the indentation of what had been running through the white valleys of the snow — and then it rose, gracefully, and flew back to the frozen marshes to lurk there, like a little lighthouse, in the blue shadows — so I thought: maybe death isn’t darkness, after all, but so much light wrapping itself around us — as soft as feathers — that we are instantly weary of looking, and looking, and shut our eyes, not without amazement, and let ourselves be carried, as through the translucence of mica, to the river that is without the least dapple or shadow, that is nothing but light — scalding, aortal light — in which we are washed and washed out of our bones. 31 Days of Halloween...Day 4

I thought to myself that today should be a cat day on my 31 Days of Halloween Challenge. I just love this funky cat design from the wonderful Goblyn Workshop. Now I know that the cat associated with Halloween are usually black but for my first cat page (there will be more coming..lol), two of my coloured cats are making an appearance. The reason they are featured is that they were part of a Halloween magic moment. First let me introduce Princess Milky,,she is one of my smaller cats but has a whole lot of attitude. She is well known around the village for trying it on..telling people that she is starving..when if you look at her..you know that she doesn't miss a meal..lol

And my other little beauty is called Sprout. He was dumped at my cottage just before one christmas and was so hurt and so scared we were so worried for him. But with lots of love he has come out of himself and is the most adorable furbaby.
And now for their Halloween story. As most of you know, my parlour is upstairs and I can look out of the window at the mountains while I craft. One Halloween I was sat by the window, watching for trick or treaters. A group arrived. The cats were sat on the studio roof and Milky and Sprout were sat on the window sill. A little girl noticed the cats and seemed to be fascinated that they were all watching. Without thinking I spoke and the little girl shouted Mummy the cats are talking for Halloween. There was a gasp from the group and even the older ones were convinced that the cats were talking. It was one of those magic moments that stay with you..and the children still talk about it..I have many visitors on Halloween..just checking in case it happens again..lol

As I said the lovely image that I have used to honour the Halloween cats is from the Goblyn Workshop. I hope that you will pop over and take a look at the fabulous images that are available.

The sun is shining here in the mountains today and all the cats have disappeared into the field to play. I'm just hoping that today is not a day for presents..lol. My friend Sparkle has had to deal with many bodies that have arrived. I know that my cats love me but sometimes I wish that they didn't want to honour me with a gift..lol

Well the coffee is calling and then I shall be back with a design team make. So until later..take care and happy crafting.

  1. Love the stories about the cats. I had a stuffed cat (from Hallmark or something). Tommy always sat on the back of the couch in front of the picture window. People would come up and tap on the window to catch his attention. They couldn't believe that he wasn't real when they'd find out that he was a doll. thankfully he didn't bring me presents either.
thanks for sharing your green cat - he's great.
